Today it starts. Or does it? It’s not the beginning of my fellowship yet, but it’s Tapestry, and NICAR, and maybe that’s interesting.
These are the days I’ll ask myself every night:
On a scale from 0 to 10, how satisfied am I with the OUTPUT of the day? 4
On a scale from 0 to 10, how satisfied am I with the INPUT of the day? 9
What did you learn? So much! Eg Goal setting in self tracking is important. If you don’t have a goal, you can’t have a progress towards the goal. Drawing makes your thinking better. Having bad or missing data can be the story. Data journalism doesn’t have any inherit goals, but the same ones as journalism.
What do you not know? What the heck is visual storytelling? Is it the same as interactive data vis ? How do editor in chief make daily decisions about what to put in the news?
