Good day, folks, good day. Yesterday, I got a Wacom Intuos Pro Medium - exactly the one I need - from my AirBnB host, who happened to got this Wacom Intuos Pro Medium from her boyfriend as a christmas present two years ago and who also happened to not touch that Wacom Intuos Pro Medium ONCE.

So today, I finally had my favourite mouse substitution again. BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE: I got access to my email account, I got access to the Adobe Creative Cloud, I got access to the team chat channel, I got a badge for the building. Meaning, I feel human now. Aka, I can work properly. (Gosh, that sounds sad.) BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE: My second favorite thing that happened today was our team lunch at the Union Market, where I had a great burger and even ice cream (Ice cream!!!111) My favorite favorite thing that happened today, though, was….pair programming with Katie! Katie is awesome and she knows stuff and it was great to see her though process (not literally, sadly, but…yaknowhatImean) and to learn from her about the great looking graphics rig at NPR. Yeah. Good day.

Learnings?

You need to create a graphic a couple of times before you can make a reusable template out of it. Building chart building tools at the beginning of creating a data desk doesn’t work. That logic can be applied to many things.

In R, you can transform stuff into a dataframe with typing data.frame in front of it. I know. It’s so not obvious.

Excel: Command + Arrow down –> go to the end of a table. Command + shift + down –> delete the whole column.

Excel: =if(len(C2)<5,CONCATENATE(“0”,C2),C2) my first if statement in Excel! Also, I made my first if statement in R. Thanks Katie.

Questions?

Should I continue my Coursera Data Science course? Should I wait until I feel the need for it more than I do right now?

Should I wait to go home until the eagle on the eagle cam hatched her mini eagles? Naaah. I think I go home. Now.
