Today I hung up postcards and posters on the surrounding walls of my desk. That seems like a minor thing. But for me, that’s huge. I remember every single time that I put up pictures in new places I moved to. It’s a ritual. It’s a “Ok I’m gonna conquer that place now and I will call it my home and it will be as much of a home as the other places I called home where I also looked at these pictures, daily.”
The thing is: I’m running out of pictures. I guess I need to buy postcards from the museum shops at the art gallery, and maybe I should buy an indie magazine or two. Yeah, that’s a good idea, now that I think about it.
At the top, you can see some of these pictures….and the rest of my desk! As you can see, it’s really big. I have lots of space; lots of desk space. I have an external monitor (and since yesterday it works really well!), a drawing tablet and post-its; and what else is there to want.
What else happened today? I met with Francis and he explained me Scrum (something that his department uses, but my department doesn’t); I pitched loooots of story ideas to Brian and I created a datavis in c3, d4 and nvd3, which are all javascript libraries built upon d3. Tomorrow I will actually do a datavis in d3. And help Zyma, the intern who will leave on Friday. She’s awesome.

It’s not that hard to write haikus. Also, the other fellows are awesome.
Scrum consists of 2-week-sprints. And you have a backlog. Maybe I should copy that model. Deadlines are awesome.
Questions?
I’m still wondering a lot about what to do with all that content I produced for the blog post. Should I write down an “executive summary” and link to another blog post which then has all the background information? Hm.
