Today I published blog post numero 1 and blog post numero 2 with blog post numero 3 still to come. I’m super glad that part 1 and 2 are done no; although I wish I would have came closer to a final draft for part 3 today.
Publishing these blogposts were awesome, though. It’s like christmas: Lots of people told me that they found my posts useful, which is really nice to hear and makes me jump around in circles and poke people’s shoulders really fast. Sometimes.
Besides finishing the blog post, I had a short conversation with R and a longer Skype call with Sandhya, which were both really nice and helpful. And tonight I went to the Heinrich Böll Stiftung, to see a documentary about the European Parliament called “Democracy”. That was a great movie. It was an aesthetically sophisticated experience that told the story of a young politician called Jan Albrecht who pushed a data reform through the European Parliament. It was super interesting to see the influence and importance of the lobbyists, the huge amount of work and the general democratic process which takes ages, literally. It was especially great that Jan Albrecht was actually there in the cinema and answered questions after the movie.
And then I walked home with M and we talked about DC and Berlin and Munich and demonstrations and symbolism, and we encountered some great new corners in DC.

Learnings?
Documentaries about politics can be very, very exciting. I learned a lot about how the EU parliament and council works!
It’s easy to get consent on the web. Everybody just clicks “Agree to the terms and conditions”. The design challenge is to make people read/see quickly what they’re agreeing to. The political challenge is to forces companies to deliver the best possible design in this regard.
Opening up your code leads to less people making fun of your code and more people being helpful and trying to improve it then I expected. That’s awesome.
