My first day in Berlin! I slept. I slept a lot. Then I visited R in his lab, had food at my favorite Japanese deli in Berlin (Ishin!), I tried VR, I bought looooots of Muji pens (because there’s no Muji in DC), I met with Kathleen and had wonderful, wonderful ice cream. There are so many places to revisit, so many views to enjoy.

But VR! VR was my highlight. It was INTENSE. It’s not your usual Cardboard VR. It’s a real thing, where you can move around in a room and where you have controllers. I’ve never had such an intense impression with games before. Some things were just too extreme for me (like standing in space. With stars around me), so I had to quit and revisit the same thing later (one does adjust quickly; the space thing got quickly enjoyable). There were whales swimming in front of me, I drew in three-dimensional space, played with robot dogs on mountains and shoot with bow and arrow at TNT barrels. It was so, so much better than expected!

There are so many things that I missed and I enjoy them so much. On the top of my list:

There are also more grumpy people and more smokers; and that makes me miss DC a little bit.
