I’m in Philadelphia, again! I can confirm that not all routes lead to Rome. When you are a captain and notice after 2 hours over the deep, deep Atlantic Ocean that the airport peers in Philadelphia didn’t actually repair your communication system and then decide to make a u-turn to Philadelphia…. then, nope, that won’t lead to Rome.

But because my flight got canceled (“We’re not gonna try it a third time”) and totally rebooked, I had a few hours to walk around Philadelphia. It’s actually a great city! I’m glad I was here! Street musicians, food markets, MacBook café shops, cobblestone alleys… Neat!

I started my journey in DC at 12pm EST on the first of April, and I hope I will be in Florence at 10pm EST at the 3rd of April. That’s what happened in list form:

1.5 hours from DC to Charlotte 3 hours waiting 6 hours from Charlotte to Philadelphia via Halifax 1.5 hours waiting 4 hours from Philadelphia to Philadelphia via Atlantic Ocean 8.5 hours waiting (sightseeing in Philadelphia while being super tired) 1.5 hours from Philadelphia to Charlotte 1.5 hours waiting 9 hours from Charlotte to Rome

… and then a 2.5 hours train ride to Florence.

EDIT: I’m currently in Charlotte again, shortly before boarding my fifth and last flight in the last 48 hours. Second night in a row in an airplane. Wish me luck.
