Today was the second Serendipity day (out of 2.5)! We continued out interviews and I spoke to four people – including somebody from HR, which was super interesting. In the end we looked at the most common themes and interesting perspectives and opinions we got out of the interviews and I created a diagram with them.

One of the highlights was to be present during the recording of “All Things Considered”, a news show from NPR. That was super interesting. It was so….fast. They played music for half a minute and then the one host said one sentence and then the other host said two sentences and then they had a recording playing for 5 sec and then the one host said something again…woah. Also, it was great to see the facial expression before and while and after they read their part. They took their job very seriously and were obviously very practiced in reading out something in a super clear voice. I’m glad I had the chance to see that!

Learnings?

There are very different kinds of Haribo candies in the US (in comparison with Germany).

100%, unsweetened apple juice in the US tastes exactly the same as in Germany. You might think it’s sweeter, just because everything it’s sweeter in the US. But nope. It’s exactly the same taste.

If you express your personality as part of the job (eg if you’re a musician or an artists or designer or a journalist writing about topics you’re interest in), then you might be already satisfied with your creative output and want to have less of that than somebody who doesn’t express their personality at work.

Questions?

When will I finally, finally get my bank account? Please? Hello, bank? Can you hear me? …. No? Sigh. Ok.
