I did it! 🥳 I finished the first big part of the book, “design for readability and insight” [final structure yet to be determined, though]. I finished the chapter on colors for gender data and spontaneously added another mini-chapter to that part.
Every time I move something out of a chapter into its own chapter, it felt like the right decision. Also, the other chapters on colors for gender and race data have been kind of long, so having a short mini-chapter changes things up.
I had a slow start in the day today and had a long lunch with a friend, so besides that, I didn’t get much done. In the last five minutes of the day, I looked at what I got so far for the next big book section – accessibility – and noticed the need to restructure at a few points. Will get to it tomorrow morning. Yay! Excited.
